In 2010 we submitted a competitive tender for the provision of land, design and construction of 40 new houses in Kirkwall for Orkney Islands Council. This development came with extremely demanding time requirements, and had to be completed within 24-months of contract award. As a result, Scotframe’s Val-U-Therm closed panel pre-insulated timber framed system was specified, and was supplied with all external doors & windows pre-fitted at factory. The project was one of the first of a wider programme of housebuilding undertaken Orkney Islands Council, of which Orkney Builders has to date delivered a total of 122 new homes.
Following our acquisition of the site in 2011 we considered a number of proposals and housing mixes upon the site, concluding with the six detached bungalow layout that obtained planning consent during early November 2012. The mix of two and three bed house types proved extremely popular, and as a result these house types have become part of our regular suite of new build properties.
